THE CENTER

Our center is one of several dozen meditation centers of the Buddhist Union of Diamond Way of the Karma Kagyu Lineage operating in Poland. The center in Nagodzice was founded by Lama Ole Nydahl and is under the spiritual guidance of the 17th Karmapa Thaye Dorje, head of the Karma Kagyu school.

It is located within two macro-regions: the Eastern Sudetes and the Central Sudetes, between the Bystrzyckie Mountains and the Śnieżnik Massif, on a beautiful land of 52 hectares. The center is also a short distance from cities such as Wrocław, Opole, Brno and Prague.

Between 2010 and 2014, thanks to the generosity and joint efforts of friends from the sangha, a freestanding gompa of symbolic area 108 m² and a main building of approximately 430 m² were built. In spring 2015, we began building four retreat cottages, which were completed in 2018.

Because Nagodzice is located very close to the Czech border, it has become a place of international exchange. Poles, Czechs, Slovaks, Austrians and friends from other countries work together on the development of the center, participate in joint projects and share experiences.

When Lama Ole visited in 2011 he said:

"This is a special, powerful place at the crossroads of cultures. It is time for this giant to wake up."

As a retreat center, this place is intended only for those already practicing in our lineage. Lectures and meditation courses are held here, where practitioners can focus on their practice for several days or weeks. We also have five retreat cottages, adapted for open or closed retreats.
